Season’s opening in Hockenheim

6 May 2014

Hello everyone,

Finally ! After a long wait, the first weekend of the Carrera Cup Germany took place on the last weekend in Hockenheim. I discovered the beautiful livery of the new Porsche 991 GT3 Cup which I will ride all year!

After a few trainings during the winter we were all looking forward to compare ourselves to the 37 competitors! The race format remains unchanged from 2013: 1 hour free practice on Friday, a qualifying session ( generally 20 minutes and 15 more for the top 15 ) , a race of 25 minutes on Saturday afternoon and a second one of 35 minutes Sunday morning. Qualifications are a bit complex, it defines the starting grid of the race2 the second fastest time in the first 20 minutes, then the session is stopped a few minutes and the top 15 reparte to define the best time grid race2.

So on Saturday morning took place the first qualifications.  I was 5th overall but due to an incident on the track I had no chance to drive a second fast lap, this placed me 16th, a little bit frustrating. Then I realized the 11th time in the second session.

So I started from 16th place in race 1 and making a good race I climbed up 14th .

On Sunday I started from 11th place. I had intended to go for the top-10. Taking a good start I managed to fight severely for 7th place , but in the battle I lost time and someone overtook me and I finished 9th .

It is a modest beginning, but in the points and with very good race pace. We know that qualifications are the key to these sprint races and I just lacked a bit of luck. I’ll show it in two weeks at Oschersleben !
