Last weekend the caravan of the German Carrera Cup championship was greffed to the ADAC GT Masters (German GT3 Championship) at Sachsenring. I discovered this very hilly and technical track on Friday in free practice.
In qualifying I managed great the traffic through David Zollinger presence for the occasion, but then I only had two sets of new tires against three for most of my competitors. I’m going out with a 17th place for the race on Saturday and one for Sunday 18th.
The rain came interfere Saturday afternoon during race 1. I made a proper start with a tiny fault that I lost a few places, quickly regained with nice overtakings. The drying of the track slowed me in my recovery, because I decided to go with a setup for very wet track and the wind quickly swept clouds. The pressure of my tires have climbed and I could defend a 16th position.
On Sunday, contrary to expectations, it is on a dry track that we started. I jumped quickly as the lights came out and I redoubled my aggressiveness in the first round to move up to 13th. Later I fought with Tom Dillman, Pieter Schotorst and Côme Ledogar (leader Cup France) to finish 12th.
I stay on a great race 2!
This weekend I will go to Hockenheim to coach the Gentlemen drivers of my team in the finals of the Sports Cup Germany. Then on 18 and 19 from October will be the final of the Carrera Cup Germany.
